June 26th, 2017 Video

Your small business needs its own website, if you don’t have one already. In this episode of Small Biz TV, I share some pointers for ways to create a company website on any budget.

These days, every company needs to have its own website. There are two ways to go about doing this: Have a paid professional create one for you, or create one yourself.

Professionally made websites are the best option, since they’ll have the cleanest look. But for some small businesses, the problem is money. If you don’t have much capital to spare, you may not be able to afford the services of a web designer. Fortunately, it’s possible to create a professional-looking website on your own. and

Two popular websites that people use to create their own websites are and Both  companies offer basic websites for free, or you can build a more complex website for a low monthly fee.

You don’t need to know how to code to build a website: Both Weebly and Wix offer simple, attractive templates to help you add photos, content and more on your own.

Both services even offer the option of adding a Click-to-Call button on your home page. This way, potential clients who check out your website on their mobile phones can quickly reach you by phone.

Choosing a Domain Name

You’ll want to choose a domain name that best reflects your business. In the past, all domain names for companies used to end in “.com,” which sometimes made it difficult to get the specific domain name that you wanted for your website. These days, “.com” is just one option. You can also get “.net,” “.info,” “.biz,” “.tv,” “.blog” and even “.marketing.” You can use these domains to let potential clients know what your company does.

To see if the name that you want for your website is available, visit a domain name registrar like, or There will be a small monthly fee for the domain name.

If you like the templates on one particular website and plan to use that company to build a web page for your business, it’s smart to see if that company partners with a certain domain name registrar. Customer Service

Don’t hesitate to call customer service if you’re having a difficult time setting things up when you’re building a website from scratch. Sometimes, what needs to be done to create a website is complex, and it’s likely not worth your time to set it up.

Budget For Professional Help

Reconsider whether or not you have room in your budget for a professional to create your website. If you have the resources to pay someone else to put together your company’s online presence, it’s an investment that’s well worth the cost.

Your company’s website is extremely important. It’s the first thing that someone sees when he’s looking for your business. Or when you tell someone about your business and they want more information, they’re going to Google you and see what they can learn about your company.

Your website is a reflection upon yourself and your company. When you have a good, clean website that accurately reflects who you and what your company does, more people will find you online and seek out your services, which can help you grow your business.
